D. Davalle, A. Leoni, L. Fanucci: "Independent implementation of a SpaceFibre CODEC compliant with standard draft F3", 22nd SpaceWire Working Group, ESA ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands, December 11, 2014

Written by

SpaceFibre is the emerging technology for on-board satellite communication. It represents a big improvement with respect to its predecessor SpaceWire, in particular it has a data rate beyond 2Gbps, it includes a Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) mechanism and it supports the Quality of Service (QoS) thanks to the Virtual Channel abstraction. Starting from just the standard draft F3, we developed and presented a fully compliant SpaceFibre hardware demonstrator based on a Xilinx Virtex6 FPGA. The demonstrator was presented at the SpaceWire Working Group and its interoperability with the StarFire (the SpaceFibre device from StarDundee) has been proved.
