The PhD program in Ingegneria dell'Informazione of the University of Pisa is benefiting from an extensive framework of cooperation with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) (https://www.iit.it/), one of the top-level Institutions in Italy and Europe in the field of robotics, materials, neurosciences, etc.. In the picture you can see our latest new friend, the WALKMAN robot (https://www.walk-man.eu/), that has been developed in a collaboration between IIT and Pisa with the scientific coordination of Nikos Tsagarakis (IIT) and Prof. Antonio Bicchi
(http://www.centropiaggio.unipi.it/~bicchi) (Pisa and IIT) with the contribution of PhD students from Pisa. WALKMAN stands between the PhD coordinator Marco Luise (on the right-hand side) and one of the principal investigators of the projects, former PhD student in Pisa now IIT Researcher, Arash Ajoudani (https://www.iit.it/people/arash-ajoudani). Arash, after meeting the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to show up his research, is just about to come to Pisa to give a PhD course on the interaction between Humans and Robots.
Next year, our PhD will feature 5 (five) positions with grants offered by IIT on different topics in robotics and with an admission procedure (selection based on CV and skype interview) especially oriented to international students. The PhD will be mainly developed at IIT Genova, with the basic learning and formation activities carried out in Pisa.
More information on admission can be found at our home Page http://phd.dii.unipi.it/en/. More on the research subjects of the 5 IIT grants as above can be obtained by contacting Bicchi (Questo indirizzo email è protetto dagli spambots.
