English for Research Publication and Presentation Purposes (ERP)
Overview and Objectives
Specifically designed for first-year PhD students, this course aims to bridge the gap between academic research and international communication.
The primary goals are:
Academic Writing: mastering the linguistic structures required to write and publish scientific articles in English.
Public Speaking: developing the skills needed for active participation in international academic settings, such as conferences, seminars, and webinars.
Soft Skills: integrating essential transversal skills, including teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, and interpersonal communication, which are vital for both academia and the professional workforce.
Course Structure
The program consists of 30 total hours (one 3-hour weekly session) running from January to April 2026.
Hybrid Format: the first six lessons are held remotely via Microsoft Teams to ensure high interactivity. The final four sessions consist of in-person Presentation Workshops to facilitate direct collaboration among peers.
Admission Requirements
Target Level: A C1 level of English proficiency is required.
Placement Test: candidates must pass a two-phase assessment consisting of a written test and a subsequent oral interview.
Conditional Admission: students who do not reach the C1 level may be admitted "with reservations." They must complete additional mandatory activities (Academic Writing, Use of English, and Online Tutorials) before they are eligible to take the mid-term and final exams.
Certification
Upon successfully passing the mid-term and final assessments, students will receive an official certificate of completion and a digital badge.
